The centre of Alblasserdam remains a popular shopping destination
Last September, we invited you to take part in the Shopping Flow Survey. Many residents completed the questionnaire. Thank you for your participation! The results are now in.
Results
The survey, which was completed by 641 Alblasserdam residents, shows that the centre of Alblasserdam remains a well-visited shopping area. People particularly like to come to the centre for everyday groceries. 82% of these purchases are made by local residents.
For other purchases, such as clothing or items for the home and garden, many visitors also come from outside our municipality. For these recreational and targeted purchases, that figure is around 40% or more. This shows that our centre is important for the entire region.
Visitors rate the centre with a 7.6. They are particularly positive about the accessibility, cleanliness and choice of catering establishments. Many people arrive on foot or by bicycle, and most visitors stay in the centre for 30 to 60 minutes.
Why this survey?
The Shopping Flow Survey helps us better understand where people like to spend their time and money and why. It also shows how our centre is developing and what visitors find important. With this information, the municipality can work with entrepreneurs to create a centre that remains attractive and future-proof. This includes choices about the range of shops, accessibility and a pleasant public space.
The results show that our centre has a strong foundation: a mix of shops and catering establishments, good accessibility and satisfied visitors.
