Building together for the future of recreation and tourism in Alphen aan den Rijn
On Thursday, March 26, entrepreneurs, partners and stakeholders came together at Archeon for an important step: providing feedback on the draft Vision and Action Agenda for Recreation & Tourism 2035. The municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn is the client for this vision, which is being developed with bureau Ginder.
The motivation is clear: recreation and tourism play an increasingly important role in strengthening the local economy, quality of life, a healthy living environment and the image of our municipality. With this vision, we are working towards clear choices, priorities and a strong positioning by 2035.
From ideas to a shared course
Over the past period, valuable input has been gathered through participation from entrepreneurs, partners, young people, residents at the market and municipal employees. It is precisely this broad involvement that is essential to arrive at a vision that is widely supported and future-proof. During the meeting on March 26, these insights were fed back and further refined. In discussion with each other, ambitions, choices and opportunities were deepened, with the goal: a vision that is truly of and for everyone.
Inspiring perspectives from practice
Monique Veldman was interviewed by Relus Breeuwsma and explained in an accessible way about the important milestone and the new chapter that has begun with the launch of the bid book, which also marks the start of the development of the Roman Shipyard at Archeon.
“Recreation and tourism must become an engine for our local economy, while maintaining quality and balance. We are focusing on a stronger positioning of Alphen aan den Rijn, encouraging overnight stays and deepening the connection with our Roman history and water recreation,” said Relus Breeuwsma, alderman for Recreation and Tourism.
Building together
The insights and reactions gathered form the basis for further elaboration and completion of the vision and action agenda towards 2035. We would like to thank everyone heartily for their valuable contributions, involvement and energy. Thanks to this collaboration, we are taking steps together towards strong, future-proof recreation and tourism. As soon as there is another milestone, we will of course share it again.
