Municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn begins greening of Kerkplein
The municipality will start greening Kerkplein in Boskoop in April. This will create a meeting place with green areas and seating areas by the water.
The greening of Kerkplein is the next step towards a green and healthy centre of Boskoop.
What will happen at Kerkplein?
Kerkplein will feature a meeting place with green areas and seating areas by the water. The green areas will be planted with colourful flowers and plants, and the seating areas will overlook the Gouwe and the Hefbrug. This will make the waterfront location more attractive for residents and visitors. To make space for the green areas, three parking spaces will be removed. The work will be completed by May 1 at the latest. Only the seating areas will be installed during the week of May 18.
The greening work will be carried out by local entrepreneurs. The contractor for this project is K. Vurens from Boskoop, and the trees will be supplied by Boot & Dart, also from Boskoop.
Councillor Relus Breeuwsma is pleased that Kerkplein is now also being improved. “Kerkplein will become a pleasant place for our residents to meet among the flowers and plants.”
What else will happen in the centre of Boskoop?
This year, the square at Burgemeester Colijnstraat is also planned to be greened. In addition, various reconstructions in the centre of Boskoop are scheduled for the coming years.
