Jan Soogelée appointed Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau
During a festive gathering at restaurant ’t Weverke in Schimmert, following the annual meeting of the Pomological Society Limburg, Deputy Mayor Henk Reijnders presented a Royal decoration to Mr. Jan Soogelée. He has been appointed Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau in recognition of his long-standing, widely supported and valuable contributions to the community of Schinnen and its surroundings.
Mr. Soogelée has been an indispensable figure within the Sint Dionysius parish for many years. He manages the cemetery, supports the Maria Chapel and plays an important role in the annual procession. He also acted as a supervisor on behalf of the parish council during extensive restoration projects.
Since 2006, he has served as treasurer of the Pomological Society Limburg, where, in addition to financial management, he actively contributes to a wide range of activities and association matters. Previously, he was treasurer of SV Schinnen for twenty years and was involved with the Schinnen Youth Carnival for more than ten years.
In light of the nature, duration and significance of his contributions, His Majesty the King has been pleased to award Mr. Soogelée the distinction of Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau by Royal decree.
