Free Ahembriox for residents
The Asian hornet does not occur naturally in the Netherlands. This species poses a threat to other insects, particularly honeybees. Bees are vital for nature and for pollinating plants and fruit trees. For this reason, we are working to limit the spread of the Asian hornet in our municipality.
In 2025, many nests of the Asian hornet were removed in the municipality of Berg en Dal. Nevertheless, we expect the species to continue spreading.
New tool
A new tool is the Ahembriox. This is a small nest box made of sturdy cardboard. The queen of the Asian hornet can start a nest inside it. This allows the queen to be caught before a large nest develops.
