40 modular rental homes ready for residents
This week, the first residents will receive the keys to their ‘flexwoning’ (flexible home), also known as a modular home. Mooiland has installed 40 modular homes at the temporary residential location Zwarte Molen Zuid in Nistelrode. With these rental properties, Mooiland is creating additional living space more quickly during a period of severe housing market shortages.
The homes were manufactured at Barli’s factory and then transported to Nistelrode ready for use and connected. The homes will remain in place at this location for 15 years. Today, the first residents received the keys from Edwin Daandels, alderman of the municipality of Bernheze, and Carly Jansen, board member of Mooiland.
Two types of modular rental homes
The homes meet permanent quality standards and comply with all new-build construction requirements. There are two types of rental homes. Twenty homes have a single floor, featuring a living room, open-plan kitchen, one bedroom, a separate bathroom with a shower and toilet. The other 20 homes have two floors, with a hallway, living room with open-plan kitchen, and a separate toilet on the ground floor. The first floor includes two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a utility room.
Who are these rental homes for?
These homes are intended for housing seekers who need a (temporary) home quickly but have little chance of finding one through the usual channels. It is a group that often falls through the cracks. Think of people who just miss out on urgent housing regulations or those who are divorced. But also young people who are not yet registered for long enough. All homes have been allocated.
