Signing of Intent Agreement for New Senior Housing Development
Laverhof and housing association JOOST signed an intent agreement on Tuesday, March 17, for the development of a new construction plan featuring social rental apartments primarily for seniors in Heeswijk-Dinther.
Laverhof owns the Cunera/De Bongerd site. Currently, seniors with physical disabilities and people with dementia live there. Based on an urban planning and landscape design with a focus on greenery and community, the possibilities for new assisted living facilities are being explored for the current residents of De Bongerd. The plan also includes social rental apartments to be developed by housing association JOOST.
New Construction of 40 Apartments
JOOST intends to develop approximately 40 lifetime-suited three-room apartments of around 65 m². These apartments are highly suitable for seniors who wish to continue living independently at home for longer. Laverhof will provide support and care if needed.
Municipality of Bernheze: Opportunities for Affordable Housing
Edwin Daandels, alderman for the municipality of Bernheze, was also present at the signing of the intent agreement with Stichting Laverhof and housing association JOOST: “With this agreement, Laverhof and housing association JOOST confirm their shared ambition to invest in social rental apartments in the new construction. We are pleased with the opportunities this presents for affordable housing. At the same time, we are taking the time for a careful review of the permit procedures and an open dialogue with the neighborhood, so that together we can build a plan that has broad support.”
Laverhof: A Suitable and Sustainable Solution
Laverhof owns the Cunera/De Bongerd site. John Moolenschot, Board Member of Laverhof, says: “In the new construction plans for De Bongerd, we find it important that current residents can count on a pleasant and safe living environment during the construction period. That is why we are pleased to have found a partner in housing association JOOST who will provide temporary housing for them during this time. Moreover, these homes can later be used for tenants with and without care needs. A suitable and sustainable solution for now and for the future.”
Housing Association JOOST: A Major Joint Effort
The intent for this new construction plan with Laverhof aligns with the many new construction plans that JOOST has in Heeswijk-Dinther. Marieke Vossen, Managing Director of housing association JOOST, is pleased with all these developments in this community: “The joint effort is substantial. We want to provide more people with a home. And also reduce housing costs while contributing to pleasant neighborhoods. In Heeswijk-Dinther, there is a specific challenge that relatively many seniors live in large single-family homes.
The extensive new construction we have planned offers opportunities for better housing mobility. Not only by building suitable homes but also by engaging in conversations with people about how they can live comfortably and sustainably. For example, in an accessible home with a strong neighborhood network. This strengthens the resilience we already see in Heeswijk-Dinther.”
Extensive New Construction Planned in Heeswijk-Dinther
Other current new construction plans by JOOST in Heeswijk-Dinther include 6 social rental homes on Sint Servatiusstraat, which will be completed this fall, and 17 social rental homes in the Heeswijkse Akkers project, construction of which will begin shortly. This summer, construction will start on another 28 social rental homes on Kamersche Hoef, and by the end of this year, we expect to begin demolition and new construction of 13 social rental homes on Aa-Brugstraat. And we have even more new construction projects in the pipeline.
