Celebratory launch of second car-sharing vehicle in Boekel municipality
Wednesday, April 1, 2026
Following the success of the first car-sharing vehicle, the Boekel municipality has put a second vehicle into use exactly one year later, on April 1, 2026. Alderman Matt Kanters, Sophie van Oijen from O2Share, and Remko Engels from the North Brabant Province were present at the celebratory presentation at Sint Agathaplein in Boekel.
The use of car-sharing vehicles is increasing in the Boekel municipality, leading to a higher demand for additional availability. For this reason, a second car-sharing vehicle has been introduced on a trial basis, again a hybrid model. This reduces the likelihood of users missing out when they want to use a shared car, enhancing accessibility and reliability. The trial with the second vehicle has been made possible in part by financial support from the North Brabant Province.
During the presentation, the practical and environmentally friendly nature of this mode of transport was highlighted. “Residents inspire each other, which brings it to life within the community. Ultimately, this contributes to the success of the car-sharing scheme. Boekel is setting an example for other municipalities,” said Sophie van Oijen from O2Share.
Alderman Matt Kanters is pleased with the arrival of the vehicle: “I am very proud of the second car-sharing vehicle for our municipality. It is an affordable, practical, and sustainable solution for our residents.”
The two car-sharing vehicles are located on Meester van Hooffstraat and can be easily reserved via the O2Share app. Would you like to use the car-sharing vehicles as well?
