Nature in our municipality is beautiful and valuable. Yet native plants and animals are increasingly facing competition from true profiteers: invasive exotics. That is why this spring we are launching the campaign ‘Stop the profiteers: take action against invasive exotics’.
What are invasive exotics?
Invasive exotics are plants and animals that do not naturally belong here but have ended up in the Netherlands due to human activities (such as transport, trade, or tourism). Some of these species grow and spread so rapidly that they displace native plants and animals. This is harmful to biodiversity. Invasive exotics can also cause damage to buildings, roads, and banks.
