High turnout for 'Nieuw Baank' meeting
More than 100 local residents attended last Tuesday’s open meeting about potential housing development on the southern edge of De Hoven (working title of the project: Nieuw Baank ). During the meeting, attendees could view the first sketch models developed by the municipalities of Brummen and Zutphen in collaboration with a local resident advisory group. There was also a brief presentation on the work carried out in recent months and how the project will proceed.
Prior to the meeting, the members of the advisory group were thanked for their efforts and recognised by Alderman Pouwel Inberg (Municipality of Brummen) and Alderman Jasper Bloem (Municipality of Zutphen). Visitors expressed their appreciation for the process and the fact that the first sketch models were developed by local residents themselves. At the same time, many attendees highlighted the need for housing in De Hoven and the surrounding area and raised questions, for example about water management in the area.
Importance and collaboration
The two municipalities are jointly exploring the possibilities for housing development in the agricultural area south of De Hoven, located between De Hoven, the Brummen-Zutphen railway line, Kanonsdijk and the N345. This research stems from the growing housing demand in the Stedendriehoek region and aims to determine whether this location is suitable for new homes.
As the area lies within the Municipality of Brummen but borders directly on Zutphen, close collaboration is essential. Both municipalities are therefore working together in a multi-year process to carefully explore the feasibility and desirability of housing development.
