The four political groups in the Bunnik municipal council have appointed Marieke Schouten as an explorer, on the recommendation of the largest party, P21.
Marieke Schouten is the outgoing alderwoman in Nieuwegein for GroenLinks. As an alderwoman, she is responsible for housing and spatial planning, health, welfare and inclusion, energy transition, sustainability and climate, among other areas.
The explorer has been tasked with: “Exploring, in discussions with representatives of all political groups, the possibilities for forming a stable coalition and/or a council-wide agreement or a variant thereof, ensuring that the municipal executive (B&W) can rely on support in the council and reflects the election results.”
The explorer is expected to submit a final report by no later than Friday, April 3.
Explanatory debate
The choice of Marieke Schouten as explorer was announced on Wednesday evening during the explanatory debate. The lead candidates of P21, CDA, VVD and D66 discussed the results of the municipal elections held on March 18.
