Children's Municipal Council provides input for coalition
On Wednesday afternoon, 25 March, the second and final meeting of the 2025-2026 Children's Municipal Council took place in the council chamber of the town hall. During this meeting, the children gathered ideas to present to the new coalition: what do they consider important for children and adults in our municipality? What should remain the same, and what could be improved?
After reflecting on the previous meeting of the Children's Municipal Council, council clerk Esther Hoogstraten explained everything about the recent municipal elections. The children then discussed topics such as green spaces & play, traffic & safety, and a healthy living environment & sports with child mayor Lauren Nagel and Mayor Jaco Geurts, using various statements.
Prior to the meeting, the children were asked to consider, with their classmates, what they would do if they were in charge in Bunschoten, based on five questions. During the meeting, the children presented these ideas to each other and asked questions about them. They then collectively decided which of these ideas they wanted to present to the new coalition.
Composition of the Children's Municipal Council
This school year, the Children's Municipal Council consists of representatives from primary schools in the municipality of Bunschoten and SBO De Werf. This year, they will meet twice with child mayor Lauren Nagel and Mayor Jaco Geurts to discuss issues they consider important.
