Dalfsen Municipality Celebrates Tree Planting Day 2026 at Two Locations
On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, the municipality of Dalfsen celebrated Tree Planting Day at two locations within the municipality. Together with primary school students, residents, and partners, we planted new trees in Dalfsen and Hoonhorst. This initiative actively contributes to a greener and more livable environment while raising awareness of the importance of trees and greenery in public spaces.
Planting Trees in Van Ittersumstraat in Dalfsen
In Van Ittersumstraat in Dalfsen, students from Group 6 of the Christian primary school De Spiegel planted new trees. Between 10:00 and 12:00, they planted the new trees alongside the mayor, the municipal outdoor services team, and their teachers.
The planting is part of the replanting of trees and flower beds, which was prepared in consultation with residents of the street. In this way, the municipality of Dalfsen and residents work together to create a green and pleasant living environment.
The students were picked up from school and received support from the mayor, outdoor services team, and their teachers.
Mayor Michael Sijbom: “It’s wonderful to see how children, residents, and our own outdoor services team are working together to create a green street. Trees not only add color to the environment but also provide shade, biodiversity, and a pleasant living environment. By involving young generations in projects like this, we are investing in the future of Dalfsen.”
Planting Fruit Trees in Hoonhorst
At the same time, fruit trees were planted at various locations in Hoonhorst, also between 10:00 and 12:00. This activity was made possible by financial contributions from Vitens, Hanab, and Combinatie Waterverbinders. Based on submissions from the volunteer group Hoonhorst Bloeit, fruit trees were chosen for planting in multiple spots around the village.
Attending the planting were, among others, the municipal outdoor services team, students from Groups 5 and 6 of St. Cyriacus primary school, and Alderman Jan Uitslag.
Alderman Jan Uitslag: “Hoonhorst demonstrates the strength of collaboration between residents, volunteers, and partners. Thanks to the involvement of Hoonhorst Bloeit and the support of Vitens, Hanab, and Waterverbinders, we can enrich the village with fruit trees that will provide enjoyment, harvests, and biodiversity for years to come.”
Importance of Greenery and Community Involvement
With Tree Planting Day, the municipality of Dalfsen aims to show children and residents how vital trees are for a healthy and attractive living environment. By planting trees together, we are not only investing in greenery but also in community involvement and collaboration.”
