Call: Help count birds in De Bilt, Maartensdijk, Westbroek and Hollandsche Rading
Do you love birds and enjoy walking through your neighbourhood? Then you can help us. The Municipality of De Bilt wants to promote the national project Meetnet Urbane Soorten (MUS) by Sovon and Vogelbescherming Nederland. With this project, they map how common breeding birds are doing in our villages and neighbourhoods.
For several areas, they are still looking for bird counters:
- South-East De Bilt (3723 AZ)
- Maartensdijk
- Westbroek
- Hollandsche Rading
What will you do?
You will count birds three times a year, for five minutes each time, at 8–12 fixed points in your neighbourhood. You don’t need to be an expert: the free online MUS course will teach you how to recognise the species.
Your counts help track trends in both common and vulnerable bird species. The data is important for protecting nature in our built-up environment.
