Municipality and Timpaan sign agreement for 86 homes in Mijdrecht
The development of the MICA Mijdrecht housing project at Hofland 203 has taken a step closer to realization. The municipality has signed the preliminary agreement with project developer Timpaan for the construction of 86 homes on the former Adelaar site.
The plan includes a mix of housing types: 26 social rental apartments, 17 mid-range rental and/or affordable purchase apartments, and 43 free-sector terraced homes. This addresses the demand for both affordable and free-sector housing in the region.
Councillor Anja Vijselaar (Area Development) calls the agreement an important milestone: “With this agreement, we can move on to the next phase of the project. We are working toward a new residential district that meets the housing needs in Mijdrecht.”
Accessibility to the new residential district is a key consideration. In particular, the connection to the N201 road requires additional measures. Before the curve of the N201 near Mijdrecht is straightened by the Province of Utrecht, half of the homes can be accessed via the N201 once the necessary infrastructure measures have been implemented.
Ingeborg de Jong (Director of Timpaan): “In MICA, the focus is on a green, quiet, and car-free living environment where children can play and residents can meet. Timpaan looks forward to collaborating with the municipality and the realization of the district, so that prospective homebuyers in the area can find a suitable home.”
The municipal council finalized the spatial framework for the location at the end of 2025. Based on this, the plan will be further developed in the coming period. In 2026, the spatial procedure will begin, including changes to the environmental plan. Demolition work will also commence at that time. If everything proceeds according to plan, construction of the first phase (43 homes) will start in 2028. Want to stay updated on the development? You can sign up for the newsletter at leveninmica.nl.
