Could you be Doesburg's new Children's Mayor?
Would you like to represent all children in Doesburg? For example, at events, meetings, and with the municipality? To meet people? To share your opinion? Apply for the position of Children's Mayor! You will serve as Children's Mayor for one year.
You can become Children's Mayor if:
- You are in year 7 (group 7);
- You live in the municipality of Doesburg;
- You want to advocate for the interests of children in Doesburg;
- You enjoy meeting people (including adults);
- You like to share your opinion and can express it well;
- You enjoy being in the spotlight;
- You like to be involved in activities within the municipality.
What is expected of a new Children's Mayor?
Being Children's Mayor is fun, but it is also a serious role. This is what is expected of you:
- You enjoy being the point of contact for the mayor and aldermen. This means you are easily accessible and can share your opinion;
- You have a meeting with the mayor every three months to discuss what matters to children in Doesburg;
- You attend several events in Doesburg. Think, for example, of King's Day, Remembrance Day, and the arrival of Sinterklaas;
- During your year as Children's Mayor, you will write a short report on points you would like to bring to the attention of the municipality of Doesburg, based on what you have heard from other children in Doesburg.

If your letter appeals to us, we will invite you, along with several other children, to an interview on Thursday, 9 April, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. After the interviews, the jury will select a new Children's Mayor. During the municipal council meeting on Thursday evening in May, acting mayor Arco Hofland will present the special chain of office to the new Children's Mayor. This will also mark the farewell of the current Children's Council.
