Railway works on the Hoorn-Enkhuizen line
From Saturday 11 April at 01:00 until Thursday 23 April at 05:00 2026, ProRail will be carrying out work on the railway line between Hoorn and Enkhuizen. During the works, no trains will run between Hoorn and Enkhuizen. NS will provide replacement buses for passengers. For up-to-date travel information, visit ns.nl or the NS app.
Closure of level crossings
To enable safe working, ProRail will temporarily close several level crossings:
- Boekert (Oosterblokker) 17 April 23:00 – 20 April 07:00 The crossing will be completely closed to cars, cyclists and pedestrians
- J.N. Stuifbergenlaan (Bovenkarspel) 15 April 07:00 – 22 April 23:00 The crossing will be completely closed to cars, cyclists and pedestrians

What will be happening?
The railway line will be renewed to ensure it remains safe and reliable. The works will take place day and night. The work will progress along the line. You may experience temporary inconvenience, such as noise or detours.
On the Hoorn – Enkhuizen route, ProRail will be renewing, among other things:
- rails, fastenings and sleepers;
- ballast (stones under the track);
- the road surface at level crossings;
- parts of Enkhuizen station.
Works at Enkhuizen station
During the same period, ProRail will also be improving Enkhuizen station. The station will not be accessible during these works. The works include:
- Replacing the retaining walls at tracks 1 and 2. These are concrete walls that keep the track in place;
- Adjusting the layout of tracks and switches;
- Renewing three switches and approximately 1.5 kilometres of track;
- Improving drainage so that rainwater can drain away more effectively.
Temporary depot at Enkhuizen station P+R car park
For the works, ProRail will set up a temporary depot on the P+R car park. A depot is a location where machinery and materials are stored. As a result, part of the car park will temporarily be unavailable. There may also be additional construction traffic to and from the depot. After the works are completed, the depot will be removed. ProRail will do its best to minimise any inconvenience.
