Intentie tot vaststelling naam Doonakker, Doonpoort, Doonzicht, Doonrand, Heivlinder en Heirand in Gemert
The mayor and aldermen have the intention to establish a new name for a public space in connection with the realization of the new construction plan Doonheide III, located between Lieve Vrouwesteeg, Doonheide and Handelseweg in Gemert.
The working group for naming public spaces has advised the names Doonakker, Doonpoort, Doonzicht, Doonrand, Heivlinder and Heirand.
This name was chosen because Doonakker, Doonpoort, Doonzicht, Doonrand, Heivlinder and Heirand are regional designations that have a clear relationship with the Doonheide neighborhood, whereby:
- Doonakker refers to the agricultural past and the development of the area,
- Doonpoort marks the entrance and access function of Doonheide III,
- Doonzicht refers to openness, sightlines and the green character of the neighborhood,
- Doonrand indicates the location on the edge of the core of Gemert and the transition to the outer area,
- Heivlinder refers to nature and biodiversity, fitting for a slow traffic route, and
- Heirand indicates the landscape designation for the edge of the heath and the transition between built-up area and greenery.
The college of mayor and aldermen has adopted the advice.
The accompanying documents are available for inspection for 2 weeks starting today. If you have comments on the proposed names, you can send a reaction by March 23, 2026 at the latest to
