Research into sound perception around airbase. Will you participate?
Leiden University is conducting a study on behalf of the Ministry of Defence into the perception of environmental sounds around Gilze-Rijen Air Base. The research is part of a pilot in which measures are being tested to reduce nuisance caused by rattle noise. Rattle noise is the rattling sound of Chinook helicopters. Leiden University invites residents living near the air base to participate in the study.
Participation is simple
Taking part in the sound study is easy: download the MoSART app on your mobile phone or tablet. Using this app, you can record sounds from your surroundings that you find pleasant or unpleasant. These can be all kinds of sounds: traffic noise, activities at the air base, natural sounds, or other everyday noises. Then answer a few questions in the app and save them.
You can download the app via the Apple Store or via Google Play. If you experience any issues downloading or using the app, please contact Tjeerd Andringa.
About the study
Leiden University is investigating how residents perceive sound using the MoSART app. Interviews have also been conducted with 20 residents. In addition, objective environmental sounds are being included in the study. The university is doing this using measurement boxes attached to lampposts around the air base.
