Invitation to an open house meeting about the future of the town hall in Rijen
The municipality is working on plans for the town hall in Rijen. The oldest, historic part of the building will be given a different function. It may be converted into residential units. The newer, black-coloured section will remain in use as the town hall, housing the counters, workspaces for the municipal executive, and the meeting room for the municipal council. This way, the town hall in Rijen will be preserved.
We have further developed our plans and would like to share more details with you during an open house meeting. We will also discuss potential new uses for Raadhuisplein (Town Hall Square). During the meeting, we will explain the steps we are taking in this regard.
When and where?
The open house meeting will take place on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, in the council chamber of the town hall, Raadhuisplein 1 in Rijen. You are welcome to attend at any time between 7:00 PM and 8:30 PM. The entrance is via the side door on the side of the large car park.
What can you expect?
During the meeting, municipal staff will be available to inform you about the plans and next steps. You will also have the opportunity to speak with:
- the architect who is drafting the preliminary design for the renovation of the newer part of the building
- the advisory bureau that, together with the municipality, developed the Statement of Principles for the redevelopment of the historic section
There will also be the option to take a short guided tour of the town hall, during which we will share more about the building’s history.
