Lukki Bios on Tour: Young People Enjoy Films in Dorpstienden
A cinema on the island. That was a wish expressed by young people in a survey conducted by Growing Up in a Promising Environment (OKO) in 2024. Stichting ZIJN and the municipality of Goeree-Overflakkee took this to heart. This led to the creation of the ‘Lukki Bios’ at the end of 2025.
The first film evenings took place during the autumn and Christmas holidays in the theatre hall of Het Diekhuus in Middelharnis. This proved to be a great success. For this reason, the Lukki Bios will continue this year and in 2026, it will even go on tour to different villages. On Friday, March 6, the first edition outside Middelharnis took place. In Dorpstienden in Ouddorp, over 40 young people gathered to watch the film *Bad Guys 2*. The Ouddorp Village Council looks back on this first film evening with great enthusiasm.
Film Evening in Your Own Village
The Ouddorp Village Council has been organising activities for young people in the village for years. When they heard about the Lukki Bios, they thought it would be fun to organise a film evening in Ouddorp as well. They made contact, and a plan for the first edition quickly took shape. The preparations were arranged swiftly. Chairs were set up, the projector was tested, and popcorn was purchased. Lukki assisted with the film selection, licensing, and promotion through posters and social media. According to the village council, the film evening is a great addition to the existing activities for young people.
Experiencing Screen Time Together
The Lukki Bios offers a different form of screen time. Young people don’t stay at home in their rooms but go out and meet friends. During a film evening, they meet other young people and experience the film together. They laugh together, get drinks for friends, or navigate their way through the chairs to the toilet. These are small moments, but they help young people feel more confident in a new environment. This is precisely what makes a film evening in the village so valuable. Many young people find it extra enjoyable to watch a film together, even if they have already seen it at home.
Want a Lukki Bios in Your Village?
Village councils and associations can invite the Lukki Bios to organise a film evening in their village. Each community can organise a film once this year.
By hosting film evenings in different villages, young people also discover other places on the island. For example, they can cycle together to a film in a nearby village. This creates even more options for a fun night out. Does your village have a suitable location? Then register via lukki@goeree-overflakkee.nl. The youth work of Stichting ZIJN can provide tips for the organisation. They are happy to assist upon request and, when possible, will attend the Lukki Bios.
