Demonstrations and activities on Gouda's 112 Day at GOUDasfalt
On Saturday, April 18, the municipality, in collaboration with various emergency services and other organizations, will host the 112 Day at GOUDasfalt. During this event, emergency services will provide spectacular demonstrations and showcase how they respond to emergency situations. Visitors – from young to old – will get a unique behind-the-scenes look and meet the organizations that work daily to ensure safety.
The fire department, police, ambulance, lifeguard brigade, Defense, Supervision and Enforcement, the Red Cross, and the animal ambulance will provide an educational and interactive program. They will conduct multiple demonstrations for both children and adults. Visitors will learn what to do during a disaster or accident and how emergency services respond. Additionally, they can explore the various vehicles and vessels up close. Security and Protection students from Hoornbeeck College will participate throughout the day to gain practical experience.
Information market
In addition to the demonstrations and safety education, there will also be an information market. Visitors can ask all their questions to the emergency services. They will learn about working for an emergency service and discover opportunities to contribute as a volunteer. Special attention will also be given to cybercrime prevention, fire safety, and resilience.
Program
The 112 Day will take place from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the GOUDasfalt site, Gouderaksedijk 32. The official opening will be at 11:30 AM with Mayor Pieter Verhoeve and the emergency services. Throughout the afternoon, various demonstrations will be held at the festival grounds and by the water. Admission is free.
Come by foot or bicycle
Parking is not available at the event site. The organizers therefore urge visitors to arrive by bicycle or on foot via the temporary bicycle bridge at the Waaiersluis. The Haastrechtse bridge is under maintenance. There will be ample space to park bicycles. The GOUDasfalt ferry will operate back and forth from the Veerstal on the city side.
