Explorer submits advice to chair of municipal council
On Tuesday morning, 31 March, explorer Martijn Dols submitted his advice to the chair of the municipal council, Mayor Nicole Ramaekers. Mr Dols conducted exploratory talks on behalf of the Presidium on Thursday, 26 March with all parties regarding possible cooperation options within the municipal council.
Martijn Dols: “I advise the municipal council to first examine the feasibility of a majority coalition consisting of: PRO Gulpen-Wittem, DOE’22 and the VVD during the information phase. Given the election results, the explicit preferences of several parties and the absence of any hard blocks within this combination, this appears to be the most obvious option to investigate further.”
Mayor Ramaekers: “As chair of the municipal council, I have received the explorer’s advice. The council will discuss this tomorrow evening, Wednesday, 1 April. The council will also decide whether to follow the advice and appoint an informateur. Based on the process agreements made, the leader of the largest party (PRO Gulpen-Wittem) will submit a proposal to the council for this purpose.”
