Farewell to the municipal council 2022–2026
Last night, Mayor Anne Mulder paid tribute during the final council meeting of the 2022–2026 term by reading an in memoriam for recently deceased councillor Will Meurer. This was followed by a minute of silence.
Next, farewell was bid to councillors Ruud Beerendonk, Merlijn Crebolder, Simone Dirven, Jean-Marie Frerichs, Frits Harteveld, Harold van Hoof, Martijn Konings, Anton Tielen, and Ad van Tetering. They will not return to the municipal council after the elections. The installation of the new council is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1. Mayor Anne Mulder addressed the departing councillors, thanking them for their dedication. It was noted that, once the new executive board is formed, there may still be opportunities for some of them to be appointed to the council.
As a token of appreciation, all departing councillors received a gift. Councillors Frits Harteveld and Ad van Tetering were given a special surprise. In recognition of their many years of service, they were awarded the title of Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau.
Frits Harteveld served as a councillor for Progressief Halderberge (a collaboration between the PvdA, D66, and GroenLinks) and later for D66 Halderberge from March 2006 to May 2014 and again from March 2018 to the present. Until March 2025, he also served as the D66 Halderberge faction leader and, from May 2022 to June 2025, as deputy council chair. Additionally, he chaired a committee.
Ad van Tetering served as a councillor for CDA Halderberge from November 2007 to March 2018, October 2018 to September 2019, and again from October 2021 to the present. As a councillor, he was a member of the Rail Commission and the Environmental and Planning Act working group.
