Every year, just before King’s Day, people in the Netherlands receive a Royal Honour. This is also known as a decoration. The mayor presents this honour. A decoration is awarded to people who have been volunteering for others for many years. They often do this without expecting anything in return. It is important that someone is nominated by family, friends or acquaintances. Without a nomination, no decoration can be awarded.

Do you know someone who has been selflessly contributing to society for many years? For example, someone who keeps an association running as a volunteer?
