Royal Honours for Retiring Councillors
On Tuesday, 31 March, a special council meeting was held to bid farewell to several members of the outgoing municipal council. Following the elections on 18 March, some councillors will not return to the newly elected council. During this meeting, the council reflected on their dedication and commitment over the past years.
Gerda Hardam, Gert van der Rhee, Erik Mateman and Dianneke Landman received a special surprise. They were awarded a Royal Honour in recognition of their long-standing commitment to local democracy.
With (more than) twelve years of service as councillors, they have made a significant contribution to the municipality and its residents. All four have been appointed as Members of the Order of Orange-Nassau. Mayor Olaf Prinsen presented them with the corresponding honours on behalf of His Majesty the King.
Gerda Hardam-Postma (VVD), Gert van der Rhee (ChristenUnie-SGP) and Erik Mateman (CDA) each served three terms on the municipal council since 2014. Dianneke Landman-Kok (GL/D66) has served a total of four and a half terms: first from 1994 to 2002, and then from 2016 to the present.
