Green light for new residential area in De Knipe with 85 homes

New homes are urgently needed. In De Knipe, the demand for affordable and suitable housing is also high. To give concrete substance to this, alderman Rolie Tromp, development manager Pier Reitsma of BPD | Bouwfonds Area Development, and Peter Kuin, director of Kuin Real Estate Development, signed a cooperation agreement on Friday, March 13, for the construction of 85 new homes in De Knipe.
Alderman Tromp:
“We believe it is important that residents, young and old, can continue to live in their own village. The new plan offers this possibility. Furthermore, we are very pleased with the cooperation with local interests and the involvement of the village. The new neighborhood will truly complement the village with its green and spatial character.”
New neighborhood with village character
With the plan, a new neighborhood will be created that fits the DNA of the village: natural, connecting, and cozy. A place where starters, singles, families, and seniors will live together in the future, and where both the homes and the public space are designed to stimulate encounters and cohabitation.
The approach of BPD and Kuin
Development manager Pier Reitsma (BPD):
“For this plan, we actively involved the village. Through conversations with neighbors, interested parties, and village meetings, we gathered a lot of valuable input. By listening well to what is alive, we have been able to make a plan together with the village and the municipality that truly fits here. The environment will also be closely involved in the next phase. We expect to be able to start building the first homes in 2027.”
The new neighborhood in De Knipe
In the new neighborhood on the northern side of the village, 85 homes will be built with a wide range of affordable options, including owner-occupied homes and social rental homes from WoonFriesland.
Heerenveen Grows
In the Housing Vision 2023, the ambition is expressed to add approximately 2,000 homes within the municipality of Heerenveen by 2030. That growth is now clearly visible. Heerenveen is building quickly, sustainably, and for everyone. This gets the flow going, and residents who want to (continue to) live here find a suitable place, even in the villages.
