Election results for municipal council
Remaining seats for 7 parties
The Central Electoral Committee announced the results of the municipal council elections on Thursday, March 26 at 10:00 AM. This was done during a public session at the town hall.
In Hengelo, 34,197 out of 67,917 eligible voters cast their ballots in the municipal council elections. This represents a turnout of 50.35%. Voters could cast their votes at 40 polling stations on March 18. A total of 34,068 voters cast valid votes for a candidate. The remaining votes were blank or invalid.
Results
Burger Belangen emerged as the winner of the municipal council elections with 7 seats on the council, followed by GROENLINKS / Partij van de Arbeid (PvdA) and VVD, each with 5 seats. The CDA secured 4 seats. Three seats each went to the SP (Socialistische Partij), D66, ANDERS!, and Forum voor Democratie. The following parties each received 1 seat: Pro Hengelo, PVV (Partij voor de Vrijheid), Hengelose Burgers (VPOR), and newcomer 50PLUS. ChristenUnie and Volt did not receive enough votes for a (remaining) seat.

Installation of new council
On Tuesday, March 31, the outgoing council will decide on the admission of the elected members to the council (verification of credentials). The installation of the new council will then take place on Wednesday, April 1.
