Carillon in Wieringerwerf out of order, municipality working on a solution
We have been receiving numerous reports recently about the carillon (chime) in front of the old town hall in Wieringerwerf not working. We would like to inform residents that we are aware of the issue. A suitable solution is being worked on, but it is not something that can be resolved immediately.
Village character
The carillon is located on the square in Wieringerwerf and is part of the village’s character. The installation requires maintenance, and the control system housed in De Cultuurschuur is currently not functioning. As a result, the carillon cannot be operated as intended.
Outdated
Since the system is outdated, repairs require custom work and careful consideration. We are therefore exploring which solution is technically feasible and future-proof. This takes time, and it is not yet clear when the carillon will be operational again.
We will provide further updates as soon as more clarity is available regarding the next steps.
Historical images
With this announcement, we are sharing two historical photos of the carillon, sourced from the image bank of the Historisch Genootschap Wieringermeer. A nice glimpse into the history of this recognizable sound in the village.
