This is a new edition of ‘Entrepreneurs from Hollands Kroon’. Every month, we ask six fixed questions to an entrepreneur from our municipality. This way, we learn more about them and their business. The entrepreneur then nominates someone for the next edition.
This time, we meet Jente Groeneweg from Middenmeer.
Who are you?
My name is Jente Groeneweg (22 years old). On weekends, I live with my parents at Waardweg 4 in Middenmeer. During the week, I can be found in Dronten, where I live in a cozy student house and study Business Administration and Agri-Food Business. I am currently in my third year of studies.
In addition to my food truck, I have been working with great pleasure for three years at the product development department at VanKoolen in Wieringerwerf.
What kind of business do you have?
With my food truck, I provide catering. The range consists of:
- Appetizers
- Snacks
- Tapas
- Sandwiches
Additionally, I love it when customers come up with their own ideas. Together, we then create a customized plan. Whether it's a birthday, party, open day, or event: anything is possible!
What inspired you to start your own business?
In September 2024, I bought my food truck. Initially, this wasn't my own idea, but that of my mother. She said several times:

At that time, I was attending secondary vocational education (mbo), where I studied Food Technology, and I worked on weekends at VanKoolen in the product development department. Thanks to that background, I concluded that a food truck would suit me well, and I started looking for one.
After purchasing my food truck, I quickly received my first request from the Boeren Vers Markt in Middenmeer. There, I served onion rings and fresh chips. These products align with my father's arable farm, where he grows potatoes for chips and onions.
I inherited entrepreneurship from my parents. They have helped me a lot and still do, which I am very grateful for. After the Boeren Vers Markt, I quickly received the first requests for parties, and more and more requests followed.
What makes your business unique?
The appearance of my food truck makes my business unique. I often hear this from customers and guests. Thanks to its small size, I can easily drive my cart into a shed or garden.
The decoration also contributes to making my food truck complete any celebration. Additionally, I offer a wide range of products, and (almost) anything is possible.
What challenges have you experienced in setting up and running your business?
When I bought my food truck, I didn't have a specific plan. I started with the idea: let's see how it goes, because nothing ventured, nothing gained, and it would surely bring me something. Now, I am incredibly happy that I took this step a year and a half ago. By simply starting, I have already learned so much.
What are your future plans and goals for your business?
In the future, I hope to cater many more fun and cozy parties with my food truck and provide people with delicious snacks and food.
I don't have a concrete future plan yet. Just as I started this adventure with the idea ‘let's see how it goes,’ I hope to host many more wonderful, cozy days and evenings. As long as I enjoy it so much, I will continue with it. Who knows what wonderful opportunities may still come my way!
