Start demolition at Doolgaardstraat in Horst and Province signing
The Province of Limburg intends to contribute €1 million to the development of the new building of Onze Loods in Horst. This contribution comes from the Provincial Livability Approach area-specific public initiatives 2025–2026. With this support, we can take an important step towards a modern, green, and future-proof place where residents can learn, work, meet each other, and develop.
Alderman Bouten is all in.
Michael Theuns, deputy for Space, Housing, Water, Soil, and Livability: “With this contribution, we are not only investing in a building, but especially in people. Onze Loods offers residents opportunities to develop, to participate, and to meet each other. This fits exactly with what we as a Province want: strong, livable communities where everyone belongs. I am pleased that we are taking this step together with the municipality of Horst aan de Maas.”
Start demolition
The municipal council of Horst aan de Maas agreed on March 10 on the total credit for the new construction. One day later, on March 11, the Province and we officially signed the intent agreement (read: Livability Agreement) and the starting signal was given for the demolition of the existing buildings on Doolgaardstraat. This demolition makes way for the construction of the new Onze Loods.
Opportunity Factory Onze Loods
Onze Loods will be a low-threshold learning and development center that contributes to opportunities, well-being, social connection, health, and safety. The project transforms an old business location into an open area where residents can meet each other. With more space for green or greening. Where everyone can participate. Alderman Roy Bouten is proud: “So many residents, partners, and colleagues are involved in this project. I am proud of the enormous enthusiasm with which everyone is working together on this new opportunity factory for our residents. It is great that the Province sees this and that we can count on their support. On March 11, we gave the starting signal for the demolition together with all those involved. This literally creates space for Onze Loods. Let's get to work!”
