Community Centre Weisterbeek Nearly Complete!
This week, Alderman Roy Bouten, Dannie Kuijpers from Weisterbeek primary school, and Monique Arts on behalf of childcare provider ’t Nest, along with part of the construction team, took an early look at the nearly completed Community Centre Weisterbeek. In addition to education and childcare, the building will also feature a community lounge for local residents. A welcoming space for residents of Afhang, In de Riet, and Mussenbuurt to meet and connect.
On 26 March, the building will be officially handed over. After that, the school, childcare facility, and community lounge will begin setting up the spaces. That’s when the building will truly come to life. Over the course of May, the community centre will be put into use and officially opened with a celebration.
Are you as curious as Roy and don’t want to wait until May? Then take a look at the attached photos.
Alderman Bouten is visibly proud of the result: “This community centre shows what’s possible when you dare to choose quality together. We started with plans for the current school location, but together with everyone involved, we had the flexibility to look further when needed. By adjusting our approach in time and choosing a location where we could truly fulfil our educational ambitions, we now have a future-proof building where children can grow, explore, and feel safe. Thanks to everyone who has contributed over the past years with enormous dedication, creativity, and resilience. It’s wonderful to see how collaboration has ultimately led to a building that works, inside and out.”
