Preparations for flexible transport underway
You are seeing them appear in more and more places in our municipality: the green, teardrop-shaped signs with the word ‘hub’. But what exactly is a hub? A hub is a pickup point where you can take the Flex. At larger locations, you can also transfer to the bus, train, or ferry. Our municipality will have 38 hubs. Installing all the signs will take time, which is why we have already started. We will announce the exact start date of the Flex soon.
What is the Flex?
The Flex is on-demand flexible transport. The Flex is a taxi or (small) bus with a driver and operates seven days a week from 06:00 to 23:00. You can easily book a ride via the Reizen door Zeeland app or by phone through the Vervoercentrale (088 - 23 58 070). Residents of Schouwen-Duiveland, Noord-Beveland, Walcheren, and Zeeuws-Vlaanderen are already using it. Soon, we will also connect the rest of the Bevelanden and Tholen, making the entire province of Zeeland accessible with the Flex.
How does the Flex work?
The Flex travels a maximum of 25 kilometers per trip and, where possible, connects to public transport. This means you will soon be able to travel by public transport across Zeeland in the evenings and on weekends. You board at a hub: a clearly marked pickup point with a sign within 500 meters. Outside built-up areas, you can be picked up at any location. The driver will then take you to a hub or, if your destination is outside a built-up area, directly to your final stop. The cost of a Flex trip consists of a boarding fee and a per-kilometer charge. The total cost is equal to the standard public transport fare.
