Zeeuwse Zero Waste Week: A Week of Inspiration for a Waste-Free Life
From April 20 to 26, 2026, the Zero Waste Netherlands Foundation will host the first Zeeland Zero Waste Week. In six municipalities along the Oosterschelde—Goes, Tholen, Reimerswaal, Borsele, Kapelle, and Noord-Beveland—various activities will take place throughout the week. Residents and visitors will learn in an easy and enjoyable way how to reduce waste and prevent unnecessary consumption, whether it’s food, clothing, packaging, or other items.
Smarter Use of Materials and Resources
In Zeeland, we aim to use materials and resources more wisely. We want to minimize single-use items and waste, from preventing food waste and making conscious (second-hand) purchases to extending the lifespan of products, repairing them, and sharing resources. Together, we can save money and resources while reducing waste. The Zero Waste Week aims to demonstrate that living with less waste is simple, enjoyable, and beneficial for your wallet.
Fun and Educational Activities
During the Zero Waste Week, there will be activities for everyone. You can participate in clothing swaps, Repair Cafés, workshops, creative upcycling sessions, zero-waste walking tours, cleanup events, and nature activities. For children, there will be toy swaps and Kids Repair Cafés. The program for the Zeeland Zero Waste Week will be available from March 23 at www.zerowasteweek.nl/zeeland. Some workshops may require advance registration.
Siwart Mackintosh, Alderman for the Municipality of Kapelle: "The Zero Waste Week is a wonderful opportunity for our residents to experience how small changes can have a big impact. In Kapelle, we are actively committed to a sustainable living environment where we reduce waste and reuse materials as much as possible. I invite everyone to participate and discover how easy and enjoyable a waste-free life can be."
Elisah Pals of the Zero Waste Netherlands Foundation: “Living a waste-free life often seems complicated, but during the Zeeland Zero Waste Week, we show that it can be achievable, simple, and fun.”
