Renovation begins on temporary housing facility on Van Ruysdaellaan
The office building at Van Ruysdaellaan 41-69 will be converted into a temporary housing facility for status holders for a period of three years. This means that refugees who have been granted a residence permit can live there until a (flexible) home becomes available for them. The rental agreement between the municipality and the owner, Amvest, has been signed, and the environmental permit has been granted. Now, the renovation of the building to make it habitable can begin.
Renovation
The company De Maatschap is carrying out the renovation. The work includes tasks such as removing old walls and installing new ones, as well as fitting kitchens and bathrooms. Family homes will have their own bathroom and kitchen, while single-occupancy rooms will share facilities.
Outdoor space
Discussions are still ongoing, including with the sounding board group, about how to design the outdoor space. At the very least, a small playground with fencing will be added to ensure the safety of children.
General timeline
March – August: Renovation. August–September: Interior fitting. Mid-September: Phased start of new residents moving in.
