Memorial Object for Memorial Park Bunde
Bunde Neighborhood Network and several members of the parish collaborated with artist José Fijnaut on a design for a memorial object for Memorial Park Bunde. This idea emerged from the need to remember loved ones in different ways.
Inspiration
The wedding tree in Monschau and the stunning stained-glass windows of the adjacent Agnes Chapel served as inspiration. This feels like an obvious choice, according to the neighborhood network and parish members. The form of the sculpture is based on the motif of wings, a symbol of lightness and movement. After all, thoughts of the deceased can also be like wings: they flutter up, take their leave, sometimes disappear from sight, but remain tangibly present. Wings also refer to a bird taking flight and breaking free. Or to an angel offering comfort.
Memorial Glasses
The wings of the memorial object will feature colored water glass plates. Such a glass plate can be rented for a certain period by people who wish to remember someone. These then become memorial glasses. The memorial object will be placed in Memorial Park Bunde and offers a new spot where loved ones can remember in a beautiful, meaningful way. Initial discussions with the working group have taken place, and some ideas have been explored. Feasibility is now being assessed.
