Free compost as thanks for separating GFT waste
All residents of the municipality of Nunspeet can collect free compost this Saturday, March 28.
With this initiative, the municipality is thanking its residents for separating vegetable, fruit, garden waste, and food scraps (GFT waste). The compost can be collected on March 28 from 08:00 to 12:00 at the municipal yard, Hullerweg 121 in Nunspeet.
Waste separation is already going quite well, but it can still be improved. In particular, GFT waste often still ends up in the grey bin and is incinerated. Vegetable and fruit peels, leftover food scraps, and garden waste could then not be converted into compost and green energy. That is why it is important to dispose of this waste in the green bin. About two-thirds of GFT waste is immediately processed into compost, while nearly one-third is first digested. This produces compost as well as biogas (green gas).
Compost for the garden
Compost is perfect for use in the garden. This natural soil improver promotes the growth of flowers and plants in an environmentally friendly way. During Compost Day, residents of the municipality of Nunspeet can collect a maximum of two 40-litre bags per household. Be quick, as supplies are limited.
