Celebration of the Start of Construction for Kindcentrum Wijhe!
The start of construction for Kindcentrum Wijhe was celebrated with enthusiasm this afternoon at the construction site. Children from De Bieënkorf, De Wije, and Mijnpleinschool Wijhe symbolically drove the first pile into the ground. “A real milestone,” said one of the principals.
Councillor Herman Engberink: “This childcare centre in Wijhe is one of two locations in our municipality where education and childcare come together. This is also the case in Olst. Two locations with the same goal: to provide children with a pleasant, safe, and inspiring place to grow up. Kindcentrum Wijhe will be home to De Wije primary school from Stichting De Mare and Mijnpleinschool Wijhe from Mijnplein. Part of the toddler care and after-school care from De Bieënkorf will also be located in this building. The childcare centre is being realised through the ‘Rent as an Owner’ model. In this model, Stichting Gebouwbeheer Kindcentra Olst-Wijhe will own the building and rent it out to the municipality and its partners who will use it. Construction is expected to take one year, after which the centre will be completed in March 2027.
