Diversions due to maintenance work on Balkerweg from 30 March to 6 May
Maintenance work will be carried out on Balkerweg in Ommen from Monday 30 March to Wednesday 6 May. The bridge over the Ommerkanaal and a large section of the road are in an inadequate condition. These works will improve traffic safety, traffic flow and the quality of the public space. Balkerweg will be closed to all traffic during this period, from the roundabout at Balkerweg (Rotbrink industrial estate) to Hessenweg West (De Scharrelhof). The contractor carrying out the work is Schagen Infra.
What does the closure mean for you?
- Car traffic will be diverted via the signs along the route. Traffic coming from the N340 or N348 heading towards Slagenweg and vice versa will be diverted via Varsenerdijk, Danteweg and Chevalleraustraat during this period.
- Cyclists travelling to and from Balkerweg will be diverted via the cycle path Kievitstraat and the tunnel N48 past restaurant De Lindenberg to Balkerweg.
- Cyclists travelling to and from Ommerkanaal will be diverted via Arriërveldsweg past the sports park to Haarsweg.
- The roundabout towards the Rotbrink industrial estate will remain accessible, but will be closed for one night during this period. Residents and those directly involved will be informed in good time by the contractor.
- Emergency services have been informed and can always pass through if necessary.
