Completion of traffic study Wilhelminakanaal Zuid and surroundings

The response note phase 6 Traffic study Wilhelminakanaal Zuid was adopted on March 24, 2026.

Several spatial developments are taking place in the area directly south of the Wilhelminakanaal. These developments have implications for traffic. The engineering firm Arcadis was therefore commissioned to conduct a traffic study and advise on possible adjustments to the traffic structure.

The traffic study

In 2024, the municipal executive adopted the preferred package of measures. In 2025, Arcadis further developed the preferred package into preliminary designs. These preliminary designs involve adjustments to the following roads:

• Eikdijk
• Europaweg (the intersections with Eikdijk, Meerpaal and Paterserf)
• Lage Molenpolderweg (intersection Zeislaan and bicycle crossing Dorsvlegelpad)
• Meerpaal
• Paterserf (between Europaweg and Wilhelminakanaal Zuid)
• Warandelaan (between Buurstede and Wilhelminakanaal Zuid)
• Warandepoort
• Wilhelminakanaal Zuid

In the autumn of 2025, everyone could respond to the preliminary designs during an open evening and via doemee.oosterhout.nl.

Response note

All questions, comments and suggestions received have been incorporated into a response note. The response note phase 6 Traffic study Wilhelminakanaal Zuid was adopted on March 24, 2026 by the municipal executive.

The responses received do not warrant reconsideration of the measures included in the preliminary designs. However, a number of points for attention have been identified for the further elaboration of the measures. These are listed in the response note.

What happens next?

The municipal council will decide on the implementation of the measures. When the measures will be implemented depends on the availability of funds and other infrastructure projects in Oosterhout. The municipal council annually establishes an implementation agenda, which specifies which infrastructure measures will be carried out in the municipality in the coming years.
