AMV reception at Seringenstraat discontinued
As agreed in the administrative agreement between the municipality and the COA, reception of AMV’s at Seringenstraat will end by April 2026. The last young people accommodated have now left.
From April 2023, the former Groene Kruis building at Seringenstraat 16 housed up to 50 young people aged between 14 and 18. These were young people arriving in the Netherlands without parents or other guardians to apply for asylum. In the meantime, the new reception location at Weteringsingel has opened and is now in use. All young people have now left the Seringenstraat location. Staff will remain on-site for a few more days to complete final tasks. The COA has indicated that no new young people will be accommodated in the final days. Should any reception occur after the agreed date, the municipality will immediately impose a penalty payment to ensure the COA complies with the agreement.
