Launch of new exercise bench on 15 April
The *beweegtuin* (exercise garden) in Papendrecht is getting a fitness boost! Thanks to the enthusiasm of seniors, walking groups and other active residents, the garden has been expanded with a new exercise bench: a versatile piece of equipment where everyone can safely work on balance, strength and flexibility.
Get moving!
On Wednesday 15 April at 2:00 PM, we will celebrate this expansion with a festive event. Everyone is welcome to come and watch or join in! Alderman Arjan Kosten will officially launch the new addition with a brief, celebratory opening. Senior and neighbourhood sports coach Angelique Tubbing will then guide visitors through a simple warm-up and a circuit around the *beweegtuin*, including exercises on the new bench. Participation is possible seated or standing, so everyone can join in.
Falls risk assessment
For seniors, the Smartfloor is ready to measure fall risk in a smart and safe way. This floor is fitted with sensors that precisely record how someone walks—from step length and walking speed to stability during movement. Based on this data, we can detect early signs of an increased fall risk. If this is the case, the senior will be offered a free training programme to improve balance and reduce the risk of falling.
Jeu de boules
A Jeu de Boules clinic will be hosted by Boules Amis at the Markt. Interested? Come and join a friendly game!
In short: come along, get moving, have your fall risk assessed and discover what the exercise bench can do for you!
