Departure of Aldermen Janssen and Renzen
Aldermen Arno Janssen and Wendy Renzen will leave the executive board of Papendrecht in April. Both aldermen had previously indicated that they would not be available for the position of alderman or councillor for the municipality of Papendrecht after the municipal elections. The duties of these aldermen will be taken over by the other executive board members until a new board is formed.
Arno Janssen has served as alderman and first deputy mayor for the past eight years. Before that, he also served a full term as a councillor. His departure on 22 April is due to his acceptance of a position at a tourism company in Grimaud, France. “In the coming weeks, I will wrap up my work and carefully hand over the various portfolios – including housing and coordination of refugee reception – to my colleagues,” the alderman said.
Wendy Renzen is likely to return to the municipality of Midden-Delfland, where she previously worked. She joined Papendrecht as a temporary alderman in mid-December 2024, with responsibilities including economy, services, land matters, social real estate, and finance. Wendy Renzen: “In the short time I worked here, I came to know and appreciate Papendrecht, its residents, and entrepreneurs. Papendrecht is a close-knit community where living and doing business is pleasant.”
Mayor Margreet van Driel thanked both aldermen for their dedication to the municipality. Van Driel: “The role of alderman is wonderful, but also comes with great responsibilities. Both aldermen have fulfilled their duties in their own way. I thank them for the past period in which they have shown that they care deeply about Papendrecht. I wish them all the best for the future.”
The duties of both aldermen will be temporarily taken over by other executive board members. The adjusted portfolio distribution is available on the municipality’s website.
