New members of the Social Domain Advisory Council
The Social Domain Advisory Council of the municipality of Pekela has gained four new members. They were officially appointed last week by the mayor and aldermen and welcomed by Alderwoman Ellen van Klaveren.
The Advisory Council advises the municipal executive on social issues that affect many residents, such as youth care, social support, and health. With the addition of the new members, the Advisory Council now consists of eleven members and an independent chairperson.
Alderwoman Ellen van Klaveren: “These new members bring valuable knowledge and experience, thereby strengthening the Advisory Council. This way, we can ensure together that the municipality’s plans better align with what matters to residents.”
Over the past year, the Advisory Council has advised on, among other things, the housing and care vision and the sports and exercise policy note. For example, it advocated for better promotion of the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture, so that more young people can participate in sports and cultural activities.
The Advisory Council meets monthly and provides both requested and unsolicited advice to the municipal government to strengthen social policy in the municipality of Pekela. More information and the advice documents can be found at www.pekela.nl/adviesraadsociaaldomein.
