New municipal council installed
Following the municipal council elections, all legal and formal steps required to ensure the legitimacy of council membership have been completed. The final step was the swearing-in ceremony. During the council meeting on April 1, all council members took the oath or pledge, in which they swore (or promised) to perform their duties with integrity and in the public interest.
Among the new faces in the council are former committee members Mieke van Dommelen (CDA) and Pauline Hospel-Koster (D66). Mieke van Dommelen is eager to take on her new role: “After serving as a committee member for four years, this is a great opportunity for me to now actively contribute as a council member to the municipality of Reusel-De Mierden and its residents.”
Representing Samenwerking (Cooperation) are now Luuk Hendrix and Gijs van Gompel in the municipal council. They look forward to the upcoming council term. Gijs van Gompel: “I see council membership as a great opportunity to contribute to Reusel-De Mierden and further develop my interest in public administration. At the same time, I hope that we, as a council, can engage in constructive dialogue with one another.”
After the official installation of the council, there was ample time to congratulate the new members, and a group photo of the new municipal council was taken. Following this, the new council members, as needed, had an informal opportunity to get to know each other during a meeting at MFA De Kei.
The coming period will see the parties work on forming a coalition agreement or council accord, after which aldermen will be appointed to complete the municipal executive board (college van B&W). Council members will also be offered an induction program to prepare them for their council duties over the next four years.
