Peaceful Easter Egg Hunt in Schagen thanks to strong collaboration between police, security, Vonk, first aid and us
Despite the gloomy weather forecast, yesterday’s Easter Egg Hunt in Schagen passed off successfully and in an orderly manner. Thanks to close collaboration between the police, security personnel, students from Vonk, first aid teams and us, incidents could be addressed quickly and effectively.
Clear agreements and joint action
Clear agreements had been made in advance about the approach. Security staff directed those involved in incidents to the central post. There, in consultation between the police and us, it was decided what measures were necessary. Vonk students were also visibly present and helped proactively to keep the atmosphere calm. In addition, first aid teams provided immediate assistance where needed.
Mayor Marjan van Kampen-Nouwen emphasises the importance of this broad collaboration:
Easter Egg Hunt is a wonderful event that we are keen to keep safe and enjoyable for everyone. That can only be achieved thanks to close collaboration between all parties involved, from the police and security to Vonk and the first aid teams. Together, they ensured that we could act quickly and carefully where necessary this year as well.

Area bans and one arrest
The police had the authority to issue area bans during the Easter Egg Hunt. In close consultation with us, 15 area bans were issued yesterday, mainly due to disturbances, fights and the use of narcotic substances.
One person later violated his area ban that evening. He was subsequently arrested by the police and held overnight.
Safe celebration thanks to the efforts of many parties
Despite a few incidents, we look back on a successful event. Thanks to the joint efforts of security personnel, police, Vonk students and first aid teams, visitors were able to enjoy the traditional Easter Egg Hunt in the centre of Schagen safely.
