What will be happening?
The railway line will be renewed to ensure it remains safe and reliable. The works will take place day and night, with the work moving along the line. You may experience temporary inconveniences such as noise or detours.
On the Hoorn – Enkhuizen route, ProRail will be renewing, among other things:
- rails, fastenings and sleepers;
- ballast (stones beneath the track);
- the surfacing at level crossings;
- parts of Enkhuizen station.
Works at Enkhuizen station
During the same period, ProRail will also be improving Enkhuizen station. The station will not be accessible during these works. The works include:
- Replacing retaining walls at tracks 1 and 2. These are concrete walls that keep the track in place;
- Adjusting the layout of tracks and switches;
- Renewing three switches and approximately 1.5 kilometres of track;
- Improving drainage to ensure rainwater can drain away more effectively.
Temporary depot at Enkhuizen station P+R car park
For the works, ProRail will set up a temporary depot on the P+R car park. A depot is a location where machinery and materials are stored. This means part of the car park will be temporarily unavailable. There may also be additional construction traffic to and from the depot. After the works are completed, the depot will be removed. ProRail will do its best to minimise any inconvenience.
