Make Twenterand more colourful – sign up for free flower seeds
Following the success of previous editions, the ‘Flower Borders’ project will return in 2026. In partnership with nature association KNNV Vriezenveen, the municipality of Twenterand will once again distribute free packets of flower seeds to residents this spring. The aim is to restore nature and boost biodiversity. And of course, we’ll also make Twenterand a much more colourful place!
Birds and insects are finding it increasingly difficult to survive. But we can give them a helping hand. For example, by sowing flower seeds in many places at once. This contributes to biodiversity and expands the living space for these animals. Flowering plants also provide ample shelter and food, giving birds and insects that benefit from them a much-needed boost. In addition, we’ll create a beautiful, vibrant and colourful landscape.
Registration
Residents of Twenterand can register until Monday 6 April at www.twenterand.nl/bloemzaad. During registration, you can indicate the area involved and which flower mix you would like to receive. There is a maximum per address within the built-up area for gardens (50 m²) and in the rural area for wild meadow and anchor-edge mixes (1,000 m²).
The flower seeds can be collected on Tuesday morning 14 April between 9.00 and 12.00 at the municipal office in Vriezenveen, or on Wednesday afternoon 15 April between 12.30 and 17.00 at the municipal yard in Vroomshoop (Aziëlaan 14).
