Council meeting on 31 March and 1 April
On 26 March, the final results of the municipal council elections will be officially confirmed. The current municipal council will hold its final meeting on Tuesday, 31 March.
During this meeting, the 'credentials' of the new councillors will be examined. These are documents proving that an incoming councillor is 18 years or older, resides in the municipality, and does not hold incompatible secondary positions. Incompatible secondary positions include, for example, being a civil servant, alderman, mayor, or member of the Audit Chamber. If everything is in order, the candidates will be admitted to the council.
On Wednesday evening, 1 April, the new municipal council will be sworn in. The councillors will take the oath or make a solemn promise. In doing so, they declare or promise that they have not received any gifts or favours to secure their election as councillors and that they will not do so during their term. Additionally, they declare or promise to fulfil the duties of their council membership conscientiously. After the installation, the councillors can begin their work. They will receive an extensive induction programme to familiarise themselves with the municipal organisation.
The meetings are open to the public, and everyone is welcome to attend.
