Alderman Ivana Somers-Gardenier welcomes first residents to Heemtuinen Vlaardingen
This week, two milestones were reached in the new Heemtuinen district, developed by Timpaan in the Westwijk area of Vlaardingen. On March 11, 2026, Alderman Ivana Somers-Gardenier (Municipality of Vlaardingen) presented the first residents with the symbolic key to their homes in Block A Poppy. Poppy consists of 70 homes and was completed by ThuisInBouwen. The day before, sales began for the final phase of Heemtuinen: the Woodstock apartment building.
Alderman Somers-Gardenier (Housing and Construction): “I am incredibly proud of the beautiful housing development in Heemtuinen in the Westwijk. Residents of Vlaardingen and home seekers outside the city know where to find the Westwijk. As an alderman, but also as a resident of the Westwijk, I know it is a fantastic place to live. Together, we are working hard to make the Westwijk—and the other neighborhoods in Vlaardingen—even better and more beautiful in the coming years. Vlaardingen aims to be a city where everyone can enjoy pleasant living. The new Heemtuinen project brings everything together. It will be a distinctive, unique green space that is also affordable, comfortable, cozy, and appealing. And all of this with De Krabbeplas, Marnixpark, and all amenities right in your backyard.”
Woodstock sales begin
Woodstock consists of 45 apartments, divided into seven types ranging from 52 to 121 m² of living space. There are apartments for first-time buyers, move-up buyers, and seniors. More than half of the apartments fall below the affordability threshold of €420,000. Each apartment has its own storage space and a balcony. Many apartments also feature a covered parking space beneath the building. Woodstock also sets a precedent: it is the first building in Vlaardingen to meet the 2050 ambitions of the Paris Climate Agreement. Interested parties can register for an apartment until March 23 at 12:00 PM.
